The Lewisham East ballot paper is gradually filling up – the Conservatives have selected Ross Archer, who was also their candidate for Mayor of Lewisham. Labour's selection meeting is tomorrow, and Stephen Bush has written about how the split between Momentum and Unite the union isn’t something to get too excited about.
In council by-elections, Labour swept all three Lancaster seats up yesterday, two of which were holds and the third was a “win” (the previous councillor was Labour elected as Green). Leiston on the Suffolk Coast counts today.
Steve Fisher has published a brilliant and detailed analysis on Deltapoll’s blog about the local election votes versus seats puzzle (there was a swing from Labour to the Tories compared with 2014, but the former made the net gains).
