Drinking straws and stinking draw

As followers of British politics over the last year or so will have noted, the Conservatives are very much in "vote blue, go green" mode. Ever since the animal sentience row last year, the so-called "green crap" is very much back in fashion.
And they may be onto something. Our polling for Bloomberg finds that 56 per cent of eligible voters feel that environmental protection measures haven’t gone far enough, including 55 per cent of Tories, 59 per cent of Labour voters and 60 per cent of Lib Dems.
One of the government’s proposed policies – a ban on problem plastics – finds solid support with YouGov, though it depends to some extent what is being banned.
But while Brits want problem plastics banned, they want cannabis unbanned. Fifty-one percent back a softening (either decriminalisation or full legalisation) of current laws.
ICM had a voting intention poll out, showing no change, with the Conservatives still three points ahead.
